Valentine’s Day

For anyone with a special someone, Valentine’s Day can be a very difficult and stressful time! There are tons of pressures that a gal can feel based on what their man does or doesn’t do for them. Lets face it, some guys go all out, while others don’t. Even if you don’t want to buy into all the hokey Valentine’s Day memorabilia, flowers and cards, it’s important that your man makes you feel special and appreciates you especially on February 14th. Here are five tips to make Valentines Day smooth and memorable this year.

1.    Plans

Don’t assume that he knows what you want to do. Talk about Valentine’s Day like its important to you; let him know that you would like to do something. Brainstorm an idea together. It’s not completely up to him to make a special day out of the 14th.  Just remember, it can be fun to plan together!

2.    Date Ideas

Whether you plan to go out to dinner, stay in, go to the beach, see a movie, have a picnic, attend a party, or whatever else comes to mind plan in advance. Keep in mind reservations are limited and on a romantic day like this one will be hard to get. Just have fun, plan ahead and do something that is reflective of the two of you as a couple. 3.    Make Time

Too often, we tend to overbook ourselves. Valentine’s Day only comes around once a year so make time for you and your date in advance. This minimizes the stress level of having too little time to spend together on the day that celebrates love.

4.    Gifts

As with planning, gifts are great to talk about in advance. Make sure you’re on the same page. You don’t want the day to come and be disappointed in some way. Valentine’s Day can be different in the eyes of men and women so make sure you discuss ahead of time.

5.    Remove Expectations

One of the best tips out there! Don’t expect Valentine’s Day to be a perfect. Your relationship is so much more than just one day or evening together. Ignore outside pressures. You shouldn’t let Facebook make you feel like your bouquet isn’t big enough or let Godiva say your chocolates aren’t expensive enough. Finally, let it be a day that you both make special for each other and there is no doubt it will be great!
