How To Meet Singles In College

Fun-weeknight-activities-for-couples

Summer has come to an end and once again it’s back-to-college time. If you’re single, this is your chance to start your dating life off fresh. Forget all those mistakes you’ve made in past relationships (or not-so-relationships). You’re in college! This is one of the only chances you’ll have to dive into such an immense dating pool. You might as well have fun and learn a little in the process. So how exactly do you find a date in college?

Some of you college newbies (and maybe even veterans) have no clue where to start, so I’ve gathered some tips you can use this upcoming school year:

  1. Join a club or intramural sports team: Explore your school’s website and it’ll likely have a page full of extracurricular activities you can join. Look for one—or several—that interests you. The more you join the better chance you have of meeting someone! Students joining these groups will have at least one thing in common with you guaranteed.
  2. Join a religious or political group: Joining a group of this kind will be especially helpful if you’re looking for something more serious, because the people you will meet have morals and values similar to yours (which is probably on your list of non-negotiables anyways).
  3. Join a sorority/fraternity: Doing this will help you meet friends, yes, but it will also help you meet potential dates. The social mixers that frats and sororities host are perfect opportunities to meet new people.
  4. Apply for an internship: This might sound like an odd tip, but odds are, if you end up scoring an internship, you’ll meet other interns who have similar occupational interests and life goals. Also, internships are temporary so if you end up dating and breaking up with one of your fellow interns, you won’t have to deal with the trauma of seeing them for much longer.
  5. Join Grouper: This is an awesome dating membership that connects you and two of your friends with three other random people of the opposite sex for drinks. You get the excitement of meeting new singles while having no-pressure fun having your two friends at your side.

In the unlikely event you don’t find at least a fling through these avenues, you’ll at least meet tons of new people and had fun doing what you love! Just be patient and give it time.
